Reclaim Your Joy
I was blessed to have two beautiful step-daughters and an incredible two-year-old granddaughter. I believe you are born with your personality and you have this personality throughout your life and on the other side. I knew it was going to be a fun ride when I saw the joy in Avery’s eye’s after she was born. As soon as she could hold up a cookie and pretend to give you a bite and pull it back, you could see the joy in her eyes. She has that mischievous grin like her father and Geepaw. She gets to spend the night with Mimi and Geepaw sometimes and I love spoiling the hell out of her. This week we were all in the bed watching TV letting her nod off so we can move her to her toddler bed next to ours in the bedroom. She was fighting off sleep as best as she could, rubbing her eyes, yawning and sucking on her pacifier 90 miles an hour wearing her Tinker Bell pajamas. Suddenly she got a big smile on her face, took out her pacifier and placed the big loop on the end on her big toe. She started giggling and we couldn’t help but laugh. She yawned and put it back in her mouth. Then another smile on her face and she took the pacifier out and put it on Geepaw’s little toe! She had the best belly laugh about that. Mimi and Geepaw are laughing until tears came to my eyes. Avery is wide awake now and has won the round. We’ve got to watch Dora for 30 minutes to get her back to where we started. Thank God she has come into our lives to remind me to live in the present and enjoy the little things in life. I’m trying to remember at what age I lost the joy. You never really lose it. It’s all around us. You just have to learn to see it again. You’ve got to reclaim your joy. I makes life a lot easier to handle and can take you to a place that no drug or meditation can match. Look for the sign. Joy is out there.
